  Our History
History of Capital BankCapital Bank, initially Fort Oglethorpe State Bank, was chartered by a group of local business leaders in 1963. Mr. Drew Haskins Jr., a local pharmacist served as Chairman. Mr. Haskins realized a need in the community for a bank that catered to local business as well as offered excellent customer service and competitive rates to all customers. In 1986, a new branch was opened in Ringgold, Georgia. At this time the bank's name was changed to Capital Bank to reflect the bank's desire to serve the entire community. In 1989, to mark the 25th anniversary, Capital Bank opened a new two-story office building at 625 Battlefield Parkway in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia.

History of Capital BankToday, almost forty years since the bank's founding, Capital Bank is still locally owned and independent. To continue its goal of excellent customer service, Capital Bank has invested heavily in upgrading the bank's technology. From 2000 to 2002, Capital Bank replaced its computer system, offered new products such as overdraft shelter, electronic check conversion, and check imaging.

Current owner and CEO, Dr. Joe Haskins, son of founder Mr. Drew Haskins Jr., states, "My father's vision was to remain a locally owned, independent bank that provided excellent customer service. The goals and vision my father had for the bank have not changed and I am fortunate to be able to carry this vision into the new millennium."
